Register Now  – the live class usually sells out! Join us in person or opt for the online webinar, both of which are pending approval to receive “live” CEUs and PDAs. (To register, login to your Mayway account or signup)

Raven returns to Mayway with a two-part course focused on detailed acupuncture and herbal treatments for specific conditions she has seen in her 30+ years of clinical practice.

Raven will cover conditions that are well within the scope of TCM treatment and which respond well and quickly to TCM. You will learn Shonishin, needling and acupressure techniques for children, as well as herbal prescriptions for many common pediatric conditions. Learn how to discern what is normal in children, what can be addressed with TCM, and when to refer to an allopathic physician. Case histories and stories related to each pediatric condition will be presented from Raven’s experience as a midwife, a mother, and a TCM practitioner. Return to your clinic with many clinical pearls for immediate implementation with your pediatric patients.

Weekend One delves into:

  • Shonishin tools, treatment methods and clinical tips
  • Fevers in babies and children
  • Baby ailments, such as neonatal jaundice, colic & teething
  • Respiratory issues, such as common cold, ear infections, allergies & asthma
  • Live in-house Shonishin demonstrations on children. Due to the unpredictability of children and the challenges of filming them live, webinar attendees will view clearly shot prerecorded Shonishin demos.

Weekend Two explores:

  • Brief review of Shonishin
  • Digestive issues, such as indigestion, stomach pain, diarrhea & vomiting
  • Skin conditions, such as hive, urticaria & impetigo
  • Hyperactivity and related issues
  • Live in-house Shonishin demonstrations on children. Due to the unpredictability of children and the challenges of filming them live, webinar attendees will view clearly shot prerecorded Shonishin demos.

SHONISHIN

Shonishin is the Japanese form of acupuncture and acupressure that has traditionally been used for babies and children and continues to be used throughout Japan. Shonishin is a gentle form of acupuncture that is effective, quick, easy to do, and is well received by children. It is traditionally used once a month to maintain wellness, but it is also effectively used to treat numerous conditions that are common in childhood. Needling and acupressure techniques will be taught, herbal prescriptions will be given, cases will be presented, and there will be demonstrations.

PARENTING

Parenting, a job that often comes to those who are inexperienced, is a topic that is as important as treating the child. We will discuss how to teach parents to care for their children so that they can be the first pediatrician in their child’s health care and act with knowledge and confidence.

COMMON PEDIATRIC CONDITIONS

Pediatric conditions that are typically seen in the acupuncturist’s office will be discussed and detailed treatments using Shonishin and/or traditional acupuncture and herbal prescriptions will be presented.
